Ahmad Daham, together with NMK Performance, presented the latest jewel in the Middle East drifting scene – a very special Toyota GR86. This chassis was chosen for its excellent wheelbase after trying many different chassis. The weight distribution and balance are also excellent and provide a good platform for the BMW B58 engine. The planning and research for this build took about a month and a further 4 months were spent building and finishing the car.
Why is this car special? From the outside, it’s the looks. On the inside, where weight distribution is one of the key elements, a very famous 2JZ engine has been replaced by a BMW B58 engine, which is lighter, more responsive, and more heat resistant than the 2JZ. Of course, all the power is transmitted by an RS90 sequential gearbox from Samsonas Motorsport, which makes this set-up perfect.
Ahmad Daham said that this Toyota GR86 should suit his driving style perfectly
My driving style is mainly based on consistency and flow. The car being responsive it helps me when I focus on chasing other vehicles so I can stay very close when I need to and stay away when I need to. In competition, my style is very competitive, but when I am giving people a good show, I go full out.
And what about plans for 2025?
For 2025, we have our most intense competition – the Oman International Drift Championship. Then we’ll do our best to compete in the UAE, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and maybe take it to Goodwood Festival of speed. I want to show everyone what this chassis and motor can do.
