A successful weekend for MV Sport with Polish crew at Otepaa Talveralli

by Vilius Šaltenis

The second round of the Estonian Rally Championship in Otepaa was attended not only by the Samsonas Motorsport crew Martynas Samsonas and Ervinas Snitkas, but also by partners and friends – MV Sport. This team brought their PSA 1.6l powered Hyundai i20 VRT with Samsonas Motorsport Subaru sequential gearbox and special rally dampers for the unique MV Sport double wishbone suspension to Estonia. Last season, the MV Sport car was driven by Egon Kaur, Martynas Samsonas, Emils Blūms, Teemu Asunmaa and Egidijus Valeiša. This time, the Polish crew of Mikolaj Kempa and Marcin Szeja were behind the wheel of the Hyundai i20 VRT. Mikolaj had already tested one of the MV Sport cars in the summer of 2024 and decided to drive a complete rally with it.

Before the rally, a private test session took place in the south of Estonia, where Mikolaj was supported by 2024 MV Sport star driver Egon Kaur. Mikolaj and Egon are good friends, so the preparations went very well and the Polish crew had a good feeling with the double wishbone suspension with Samsonas dampers, which was quite new to them.

Shortly after the PET, the Otepaa Talveralli began. Friday was set aside for the administrative commission, scrutineering and reece. Mikolaj and Marcin started with the 4th start number on their car, as it was their fifth start in this rally. Almost 90 kilometres awaited them on Saturday in really difficult conditions – it was very slippery and the tyre degradation was very high. Nevertheless, with the support of MV Sport, Mikolaj and Marcin managed the rally very well, with stable times and a good push on SS3 with a top 4 overall time. After the final night stage, the Polish crew finished 7th overall and 3rd in the EMV1 class.

My first time with the guys from MV Sport and I can say that they are a proper team. Everyone was very helpful and gave us nice feedback. Of course, one-man-orchestra Mindaugas is a man on a mission and I was impressed by his passion, knowledge and commitment to building amazing suspensions for rally cars.

The whole car package is very good, which also applies to the Samsonas dampers and gearbox. There is nothing to add to that.
