Samsonas Motorsport continues work with MV Sport, where there is a continuous development of Samsonas Motorsport gearboxes and dampers. MV Sport is a double wishbone suspension manufacturer, whose product can be installed on Subaru Impreza STi 2008+ and Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII-IX chassis using OEM modified knuckles, OEM driveshafts, OEM steering rack, OEM rod ends and fits to OEM sub-frame points. This suspension for example offers the advantage of 305mm front and rear wheel travel with zero to 0,5mm bump steer for Subaru STi.
This suspension can already be seen in rally stages with very satisfied customers, like multiple champions Lithuanian Ramūnas Čapkauskas or Latvian Janis Vorobjovs.
The MV Sport itself now uses two Hyundai i20s chassis fitted on the Subaru floor for testing and development, one with a PSA 1.6-litre engine similar to the N5 and another with a Mitsubishi 2.0 engine. As MV Sport uses the Subaru floor as the base of the car, an OEM gearbox housing from Subaru is used, fitted with a sequential gearbox from Samsonas Motorsport. In addition, the cars use 3-way dampers from Samsonas Motorsport, whose latest evolution was unveiled ahead of the second round of the Lithuanian Rally Championship – Rally Žemaitija.
Before the Rally Žemaitija, a private test session took place where both cars competed and the latest evolution of the dampers was tested. One of the fastest Estonian rally drivers, Egon Kaur, was also present at the tests. So the team made good progress in fine-tuning the MV Sport suspension and Samsonas Motorsport dampers to achieve the best possible driving experience and performance.
During the Rally Žemaitija, Martynas Samsonas managed to set top times with one of the MV Sport Hyundai i20 VRTs and match the fastest Lithuanian drivers with R5/Rally2 cars.
The work with MV Sport will continue to offer customers the best driving experience in rallying at a reasonable cost.
By the way, the Toyota GR Yaris suspension is also under development, so stay tuned.
