At Oman International Drift Championship round 2 – Ahmad Daham victory

The second round of the Oman International Drift Championship took place on February 15 and 16, with drifters from all over the world competing for victory.

Qualifying on Thursday on the new layout went business as usual for James Deane, who scored an incredible 99 points in his Samsonas Powered S14.9 in his second run. The top three places were completed by Ahmad Daham (95.3) and Haitham Al Hadidy (93.3).

On Friday, the top 32 duels began and ended with a very chaotic top 4 battle. There was a great battle between Ahmad Daham and Nikolass Bertrans, both equipped with Samsonas gearboxes. The first heat was very even, but Nikolass’ spin in the second heat meant that Ahmad went through to the final. Then the second semi-final battle began, which ended on the very first corner when the leading Ali Maksheed crashed heavily into the barriers. Unfortunately, James Deane’s car was also involved in the collision and damaged. After the incident, many crews tried to help James to repair the car for the final. Despite best efforts, time ran out, leaving Ahmad Daham as the only one on the grid for the final. The crash also meant that Nicolass Bertrans automatically took the last spot on the podium. So once again we have Samonas powered Top3.

The final round of the championship will take place on February 22 and 23, where the Oman International Drift Champion will be crowned.
